I was asked if it was possible to design a strobe light that could be fitted into an EDF jet running on 5s.

There are already sometypes of psuedo strobe systems available:

LED

These are not powerful enough and the viewing angle is too small.

XENON

usually used as the flasher on house alarm bell boxes, they have a very short flash duration and are easily missed when watching the aircraft flying. Some 35mhz radio systems are prone to interference from these.

MY VERSION

Has fantastic visibilty

Flash lasts for several hundred milliseconds

No rf interference

Can be programmed for different flashing sequences.

Can be fitted to gas turbine aircraft

The following video shows a unit being connected then taken to over 100mtrs away.

This particular unit is setup for 3 flashes of 200ms on 200ms off then a space of 1000ms and is running from a 3s 500ma lipo.
